Exadata products simplification

  • Basic System has been discontinued: We will no longer sell the Database Machine Basic System and it has been removed from the Exadata Price List.
  • Custom Configurations are no longer supported or sold: We will no longer support custom configurations, where a customer might connect Exadata Storage Servers to their own database servers.  From now on, any standalone Exadata Storage Server must be connected to a Database Machine and will only support databases running on the database servers in a Database Machine.
  • Only OEL on the database servers of a Database Machine: We will only support Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL) on the database servers of a Database Machine. We will not support the installation of Red Hat or any other non-OEL flavor of Linux on the database servers of a Database Machine. Note: that we will continue to support those few customers that have already purchased Basic Systems or have custom configurations from V1 (we have yet to sell a custom configuration in V2).
