Perform Pre-installation Task

1. Check the certification matrix
2. Review platform-specific vendor clusterware documentation, if not using oracle crs.
3. Configure the high-speed interconnect.
4. Complete the pre-installation tasks

If you want to put oracle installer location to a different location, other than default, you can specify -invPtrLoc
./runInstaller –invPtrLoc $HOME/oraInst.loc

In 10g, Oracle will check the pre-requisite OS patches, you will find the following when installer starts:
Checking operating system patches: 108652-66,108921-16,108940-53,108773-18,111310-01,109147-24,111308-03,111111-03,112396-02,110386-03,111023-02,108987-13,108528-23,108989-02,108993-19 Passed
Checking for patch 108652-66; found 108652-74
Checking for patch 108921-16; found 108921-17
Checking for patch 108940-53; found 108940-54
Checking for patch 108773-18; found 108773-18
Checking for patch 111310-01; found 111310-01
Checking for patch 109147-24; found 109147-26
Checking for patch 111308-03; found 111308-03
….
….
On the node where you invoke the installer, run $ORACLE_BASE/oraInventory/orainstRoot.sh.

sunblade-13 root > ./orainstRoot.sh
Creating the Oracle inventory pointer file (/var/opt/oracle/oraInst.loc)
Changing groupname of /u01/app/oracle/oraInventory to oinstall.
