In a study by Gartner, the increasing rate of change was cited as the single biggest pressure facing IT operations and infrastructure managers. This pressure to be more agile and maintain high service levels makes application quality management an imperative for the business. This is particularly the case as end users also increasingly demand better application performance and higher quality of service.

Another great example of the importance of testing and quality management solutions is the National Institute of Software Testing’s report on software quality. They looked at the financial services industry and concluded that in that industry alone, the cost of inadequate software testing could be reduced by about HALF using feasible testing infrastructure improvements. -Plan is to enhance our capabilities for Oracle and grow our share significantly as part of Oracle (targeting Oracle Applications & Technology)

-Application Testing Suite includes 3 separate products for pre-deployment Testing:
-Oracle Functional Testing (OFT) – for Automated Functional & Regression Testing
-Oracle Load Testing (OLT) – for Automated Load & Performance Testing
-Oracle Test Manager (OTM) – for Test Process Management including managing and tracking test cases, test requirements and defects
-Together they form a powerful, integrated solution for ensuring application quality, performance and reliability.

-Target Companies for ATS is any company who is building mission-critical Web applications.
-This could be packaged apps (Siebel, PeopleSoft, EBS, etc.) or custom-built applications (using technology like WebLogic & Oracle DB)
-Note: For EBS we can only support HTML-based UI; we currently cannot support Forms-UI (2H CY 2009 working on)

-Target Verticals – there really isn’t just one vertical, it’s a very horizontal product that applies to any vertical. We do see a lot of business Financial Services, Retail, Technology/ISV…

-Target Customers (Users) – Quality Assurance Teams (QA Testers, QA Managers). Other groups may be involved but they are not users (Developers, Dev Mgrs, Project Mgrs, etc.)

Automated testing in Application Testing Suite starts with automating critical Web transactions in Oracle Functional Testing. Oracle Functional Testing records real user interactions in a browser to create automated test scripts. These scripts can be used to automate functional and regression testing and reduce the need for manual testing.
The same scripts can then be used in Oracle Load Testing which allows you to simulate thousands of concurrent users to test end-to-end application performance. This allows you to test the application under real production workloads, measure response times and help identify performance bottlenecks.
